About BBC Studios Wildlife Filmmaking Scholarship

According to the scholarship website the BBC Studios Wildlife Filmmaking scholarship is fully funded by BBC Studios as part of the Natural History Unit’s commitment to nurture, diversify and attract new production talent in countries where we film frequently.

The Natural History Unit (NHU) is the producer of some of the world’s most iconic natural history programmes, which have been watched by more than a billion people globally, and has a long history of providing production and craft training, including over 50 years of camera bursaries. There has been a very successful, 12-year collaboration with UWE Bristol to deliver the BBC Studios accredited MA Wildlife Filmmaking.

Scholarship Benefits

These mouthwatering scholarship covers:

  1. Full academic course fees
  2. Airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award.
  3. Full accommodation in Bristol city centre
  4. Visa application fees
  5. A weekly stipend of £220 throughout the duration of the course. (UK living allowance)
  6. Vaccination allowance
  7. Thesis production allowance
  8. There’s also a return flights to your home country to make a film if necessary.

Please Note: the expenses listed are for the scholarship holder only. Dependants or family travelling with the scholarship holder expenses will not be covered.

Eligibility and Requirements

To apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of Malaysia or Indonesia.
  • Meet the eligibility criteria for the MA Wildlife Filmmaking course, including holding an unconditional or conditional offer with IELTS as the only condition.
  • Provide official transcripts.
  • Be a new student at UWE Bristol with no prior UK study.
  • Be classified as overseas for fee purposes, and not be sponsored or have another scholarship.
How to Apply Online

To apply,

  • Applicants must submit a short statement stating clearly  why they wish to be considered for the scholarship.
  • Why the financial and resource support will help them excel in MA Wildlife Filmmaking course.
  • Then submit all necessary credentials including your statement (approximately 500words).
Important Notice
  • All applicant must apply for the scholarship at the same time as you apply for the MA Wildlife Filmmaking course.
  • However, you can still apply if you have already submitted an application for the MA Wildlife Filmmaking course, by submitting a separate statement as below.
  • Only successful applicants will be invited to online interview. which is part of the selection process.
  • Applicants will be interviewed by UWE Bristol staff member  and BBC Studios representative.
  • If you’re being offered this scholarship, you will accept it for the coming academic year. Deferrals are not permitted.
