About Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service 

The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) is a regulatory agency under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

It was created for the harmonization of Plants, Veterinary and Aquatic resources (fisheries) Quarantine in Nigeria to promote and regulate sanitary (animal and fisheries health) and phytosanitary

The NAQS is headed by the Comptroller-General and assisted by eight(8) Deputy Comptroller-Generals heading the following departments and units:

Departments

  • Plant Quarantine
  • Animal Quarantine
  • Aquatic Resources Quarantine
  • Laboratory Management Services
  • Finance and Accounts
  • Human Resources Management
  • Planning, Research and Development
  • Procurement

Units

  • Media, Communication and Strategies
  • Internal Audit
  • Legal
  • ICT

Basic Requirements
  1. Applicants must be a citizen of Nigeria.
  2. Applicants must have in possession of their WAEC, NECO, or GCE certificates.
  3. Valid means of identification such as National ID, Voters’card, drivers license or International passport.
  4. Applicant must not have any criminal record.
  5. Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Sector, Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, or related field.
  6. NYSC certificate or exemption discharge certificate
  7. Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Proficient in the use of relevant computer software and tools.
  10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  11. Prior experience in agricultural research or extension is an advantage.
