American University Scholarships 2023/2024 Application Form

The American University merit scholarships are worth between $6,000 and $25,000 every academic year (renewable subject to conditions).

Foreign students who need financial assistance for their studies can apply for and win merit awards and scholarships from AU and other organizations.

The details provided below are meant to serve as a guide for overseas students as they make arrangements to pay for their education at AU.

Merit Awards for International 1st-Year Students

For AU merit scholarships, there is no special application form or procedure necessary.

Only for the AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is a separate application necessary.

International students who meet the requirements will get partial scholarships from American University.

Students receive awards for a variety of qualities, including leadership, volunteerism, great academic success, and superior English communication abilities.

The amount of scholarships available is limited, and merit award consideration is quite competitive.

At American University, all merit prizes are given upon acceptance rather than following enrollment.

Based on continuous progress in the classroom, these funds are renewable for the full four years of study.

Graduate Scholarship

Merit Awards

Graduation Merit Awards may be available to exceptional international master’s and doctorate students through their departments. Each year, these grants provide waivers for up to twelve credits of tuition. There may also be stipends offered. For more information, applicants should speak with the departments directly.

How to Apply

However, while applying to a graduate program, any applicant for graduate school may specify whether they are interested in receiving merit assistance.

Time to Apply

For autumn applicants, the priority deadline for university-wide merit awards is February 1. Although applicants are advised to submit their applications before deadline, several academic departments continue to review merit award applicants until late Spring.
